Principal Responsibilities:
* Design, develop and support software specializing in different NMS/EMS layers to support network elements using multiple technologies like DWDM, Optical Switches and Multi-Service edge products. * Coordinate with ON-Site release lead /design lead on successful delivery of release/features while leading features teams to design and develop features/tasks for given releases. * Develop detailed design and code according to software requirement specifications while meeting tight project deadlines. Interface with Systems Engineering in understanding and reviewing requirements as needed, interface with the Architecture team to comply with organization-wide adopted conventions and procedures (compliance to architecture, code review, etc) to deliver quality deliverables to testing groups. * Effectively communicate design and implementation issues and suggest options to feature/release leads. * Develop using technologies like J2EE, CORBA, Core Java, C++ using Perforce software configuration management. * Review the development and execution of unit test cases * Review Integration Test cases. Coordinate with local I&T testing leads for successful delivery features for releases to SVT * Responsible for communication and coordination with ON-Site Engineers for ON-Site needs i.e. Network Element interface issues, System Validation group support, Customer Support. * Attend meetings, report progress, and take technical leadership to troubleshoot and fix critical defects. * Provide guidance and mentoring for junior engineers hired into the team who may be tasked to perform some of the above duties. * Help investigate and collect information to resolve process issues found on the current or past releases. Skills * Knowledge of Telecom networking technologies like DWDM, Optical Switching, Ethernet Services and Protection Schemes like UPSR, APS, 2f-BLSR, VLSR * Thorough knowledge of FCAPS and OAM&P based products and their project lifecycle * Knowledge of Service Level Management, Connections with alarm correlation, CORBA northbound TMF 814 standard, * Extremely competent in Java, with emphasis on Swing, Servlet/JSP, J2EE, RMI, Multi-threading, XML,C++, GDMO, ASN, X-Motif * Knowledge of Server Design Patterns as applied to J2EE, OOD, OOP along with design tools UML, TogetherJ/Rational Rose * Knowledge Network Management security with authentication and authorization using LDAP, RADIUS. * Strong software analysis, design, coding, testing, and documentation skills. * Ability to resolve complex issues that may require design trade-offs. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Strong knowledge of operating systems: Unix/Solaris/Windows * Strong Object Oriented design, experience in developing Design & Simulation tool or EMS/NMS applications. * Experience with routing protocols is preferable. * Strong Java, Java Swing programming experience. * Strong C++ experience is preferable. * Experience with Object Oriented Database or Relational Database with JDBC, SQL and related technologies. * Experience working with a large code base. * Must be fast learner with excellent debugging skills. * Prefer telecommunications experience, particularly in o General SONET/SDH (Performance Monitoring, Alarms, Faults, OAM&P, GR-253) * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Strong knowledge of using software tools for analysis, development, testing, and debug.
